I was going out on my balcony to check out some birds when I noticed this butterfly shaped frost.  So, forget the birds, they flew away anyway.
This kind of frost is very hard to photograph. I had to put something dark behind it to even get an image I could play with. This kind of image mostly goes into the bin. But I had something in mind. The two following images is just tests to see what can be done to this "butterfly".

At first I had to get rid of the "background". To free the shape.  Then I copied the two halves separately and made two different butterflies. One from each half. Then just played around with filters and blending modes to see what works. Will probably do other things with them  later on.

NOTE!
Tomorrow I´ll go to my daughter and Friday I am going to Japan for two weeks. My daughter lives half way to the airport so I take the opportunity to visit.
I am leaving today´s linky open until I get back and will close it then. So, you know that when the linky is closed I am back home. And during my absence you can linkup new posts whenever you wish.

Have fun for a while without me. When I´m back I hope I will have some cool stuff from Japan to share.  There will be no blooming cherry trees for sure. Wrong time of year.

  3. For starters, I need to solve the mystery of who is the dark object behind the butterfly on the balcony? It can't be you, because you took the picture, right? And how amazing that nature chose to paint this beautiful, delicate butterfly (very Japanese) on your window :) And then even more amazing what you chose to do with it. I love them both, but since I can see more of the detail on the orange one, I think that would be my favorite. What clever things you have done here and what a beautiful result. Quite the send off my traveling friend ... be well and enjoy every minute of your trip.

  7. Well, had to come over and get my NF DAM fix. It makes my Wednesday feel barren without being able to post and view other's posts on this day. I know you are having a wonderful time (as I have seen you on FB), but still missing you. Enjoy, Monica ...
